Video on Demand

Glossary

VOD :
Video on Demand (VoD) covers the distribution of video content available for download to end-users through high-bandwidth fixed-line (ex. : ADSL) or wireless network (ex. : 3G).

VOD is moving into the European audiovisual landscape (almost 20% of the general public understand the principle), bringing together the conditions for success of an emblematic video store service to the home, while major brakes on development have progressively been removed through :

  • The generalisation of high speed access (France, for example, has one of the highest bit rate penetration rates in Europe with almost 10 million households connected);

  • The diversity of the offerings, with catalogues of more than 2000 full length feature films available at European level;

  • The levels of quality now being offered.

However, there are still numerous challenges to overcome before these offerings can compete with the local video store. It is in this context that we have been working from the outset for major companies wishing to bring out such emblematic services, as well as on projects and studies involving :

  • Technological and strategic framing

  • Definition of customer proposals (product development, content negotiation, etc.)

  • Steering of sales launches
