Glossary

UGC :
User-generated content (UGC) refers to various kinds of media content that is produced or primarily influenced by end-users. The term came into the mainstream during 2005 in web publishing and new media content production circles.

The traditional media have witnessed an unprecedented craze for  Internet community websites, both through acquisition  (MySpace was acquired in 2005 by NewsCorp, the mother company of Fox, for 580 million$), and through creation (Wat by TF1, Wideo by M6). This obsession translates into an interest in platforms providing UGC (User generated content) and giving rise to extraordinary audience levels. It is in this context that Greenwich provides its expertise to major players in the market wishing to better understand the changes taking place in what are known as web communities.
